The last couple of days we have been carrying out an installation in a coffee/wine bar in the city centre of Liverpool. The business is under new ownership and is currently having a refurbishment to which we have totally rewired the premises. The main thing I wanted to show is the vintage lighting , there are two chandeliers from a bygone age and they are stunning, they really compliment the feel of the establishment. The lighting is spectacular and really showcases the business, Tony and Alan the business owners have ploughed a lot of time and effort (and expense!) into the property and when finished it will be stunning!! Today I attended an property to quote for an installation of four outside sockets, from the time I had entered the front door and made it to the back of the house I had spotted several faults within the property. Today we attended a customer's home to carry out an electrical installation condition report , the installation was less than three years old and had been wired to the 17th edition IEE wiring regulations BS7671. There was no certification supplied with the original installation and the customer was quite anxious about this, lucky for him it was one of the best decisions he could have made as some of the things found were alarming, we are experienced emergency electricians and deal with electrical issue in Liverpool on a daily basis. We were shocked by some of the things we encountered, one of the protective bonding conductors to the main water stopcock was on the incoming side of the stopcock instead of the outgoing side, in essence the pipework of the installation was not protected in the event of a fault. Secondly the protective bonding conductors had been cut at the gas meter instead of a loop, so in effect if one connection became loose the pipework was exposed to a f
